First look at Mickey Rourke and Megan Fox in PASSION PLAY
Mickey Rourke thinks Megan Fox is one fine model turned actress despite what that the critics say about her acting in movies like TRANSFORMERS and JENNIFER’S BODY.
The two teamed up on the film PASSION PLAY, where Fox plays a fallen angel who becomes involved with a down on his luck trumpet player (Rourke), while being exploited as a carnival geek by a gangster.
Rourke seems to believe that Fox is one of the most promising young movie stars in Hollywood today. High praise from the man whose career is seeing a renaissance since his Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role nominated performance in last year’s THE WRESTLER.
“I think the pleasant surprise was this girl who’s a world-class beauty turned out to be probably the best young actress I’ve ever worked with. I don’t know if a lot of her films have showcased her acting ability more than, say, being action-oriented, but she really stepped up the plate with this one and was very consistent and professional, beyond her years. At 23, I couldn’t do half of what she’s doing,” says Rourke.
Rourke goes on to explain that Fox’s character is not necessarily an angel but that “she has wings, so she was sort of an oddity trapped in a carnival act. She’s been a prisoner her whole life, and she has no understanding of trust. She’s very vulnerable and delicate.”
The picture above gives us a look at one of those moments of vulnerability that Fox exhibits in the film, showing Rourke and Fox in what appears to be a slow dance
PASSION PLAYS also stars Bill Murray and Rhys Ifans. There is no word on a release date.
