More for THOR

Three more actors have signed up for Kenneth Branagh’s film adaptation of the comic book THOR. Ray Stevenson, Stuart Townsend, and Tadanobu Asano all have joined the THOR cast. The men will make up “THE WARRIORS THREE,” a collection of three powerful warriors (the name definitely works) that are allies of Thor (STAR TREK’s Chris Hemsworth).
Ray Stevenson starred in another comic book movie not too long ago, playing The Punisher (Frank Castle) in PUNISHER: WAR ZONE. Stevenson also played Murlaugh, one of the main villains in CIRQUE DU FREAK: THE VAMPIRE’S ASSITANT. Stuart Townsend’s most known roles would include Lestat de Lioncourt in QUEEN OF THE DAMNED, and as Dorian Gray in THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN. Of the three, Tadanobu Asano is probably the least known to most American audience members, which makes sense given that he primarily acts in Japanese films. Asano might not be that well known in America, but he is a big deal in Japan.
So, THOR’s cast gets two familiar faces, if not necessarily names, and a man who is a big star in his homeland. Not bad.
