More GHOST RIDER 2 news
Back in September, Kool Kate gave us some news on the GHOST RIDER sequel. The biggest being that it’s not going to be a reboot. Although a failure among the critics, comic book fans ignored the reviews and GHOST RIDER went on to make $228 million worldwide. With numbers like those, it’s only obvious a sequel would soon follow. Flash forward two years later, and the progress of the sequel goes onward.
David S. Goyer (BLADE, BATMAN BEGINS, THE DARK KNIGHT) is currently revising his screenplay, which he wrote several years ago:
“It’s not exactly a reboot. I hate to say it’s more realistic, because he’s got a flaming skull for a head, but it’s a bit more stripped down and darker. It’s definitely changing tone. What ‘Casino Royale’ was to the Bond movies, hopefully this will be to ‘Ghost Rider.”
Goyer is no stranger to comic book adaptations, and he’s definitely known to bring them back with typically successful, darker flicks. Since there has been only one GHOST RIDER film so far, it’s really hard to say whether or not a second (especially one that verges on reboot) will do well. It’s always fun to watch a comic book character on the big screen at least once, but if that one time doesn’t settle well, I won’t come back for a second helping.
