MTV gets “Good Vibes” from David Gordon Green
It’s seems like it’s been years since programming on MTV was worth watching. Okay, so I’m guilty of having seen an episode or two of America’s Best Dance Crew (that show is hilarious), but I take great pride in having never watched The Hills or Jersey Shore. I just have a hard time watching anything that revolves around characters or personalities I wouldn’t want to know in real life.
Well, MTV is making a big push to get back into the scripted television game and has added two new comedy projects to its lineup. The network is working on a deal that would get them 12 shiny new episodes of Good Vibes, an animated comedy from director David Gordon Green. The other project they are working on is a comedy program titled That Girl.
Good Vibes will center around “two high school surfer dudes living near the beach in California.” The voice cast for the series includes Adam Brody, Alan Tudyk, Danny McBride, Debi Mazar, Jake Busey, Josh Gad, and Olivia Thirlby. The show will be animated by Brad Ableson, who has worked on The Simpsons and HBO’s The Life & Times of Tim. Ableson did the animation for the show’s pilot.
David Gordon Green’s next foray into comedic films, YOUR HIGHNESS (which sees him reteaming with PINEAPPLE EXPRESS’ James Franco and Danny McBride), has been pushed back from October 1, 2010 (my birthday! send presents!) to April 8, 2011. Green will also direct an upcoming episode of HBO’s Eastbound and Down.
