While many remakes appear to be uncalled for and relatively uninteresting, every so often a studio grabs onto a project that is ripe to be remade. And with the first film being a relatively big cult hit, DreamWorks has appeared to have done just that with their upcoming remake of FRIGHT NIGHT.

Coming a few months after the debut of the film’s first trailer, a new clip for the Craig Gillespie-directed remake has hit (via MTV), and honestly, this film looks far better than anyone could have expected. Check it out after the break.

Starring Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Toni Colette, Imogen Poots, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and David Tennant, the film appears to be far darker than the original horror-comedy, and given the tone of this new clip, it looks a whole lot creepier. Farrell is the sole focus of this short bit of video, but he gives off such a sleazy sense of creepiness that it is a really interesting look into the character and what to expect from the film as a whole. Gillespie and writer Marti Noxon really seem to have a great handle on the mood, atmosphere and tone of this film, so here’s to hoping that this thing can stick the landing.
