Natalie Portman to take on PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES
The image above makes me happy for multiple reasons. Who doesn’t love a good zombie ass-kicking and who doesn’t love it even more when it is being done by a beautiful woman?
Well, Natalie Portman is about to make all our dreams come true. The actress is set to star in and produce a movie based on Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice,” but with a small twist. The script will actually be an adaptation of the book “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,” which is “an expanded version of the Austen classic, the book tells the timeless story of a woman’s quest for love and independence amid the outbreak of a deadly virus that turns the undead into vicious killers.”
In the film adaptation, “Portman will play feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet, who is distracted from her quest to eradicate the zombie menace by the arrival of the arrogant Mr. Darcy.” Is it just me or does this sound like a “Buffy” episode that was never made, but obviously should have? No world on a release date yet, but I cannot wait.

The book was fantastic, I am pleased to hear a movie will be made of this. And yes, while it is very Buffyesque, I think there is enough difference to make it a fun take on a classic love story. Plus, who doesn't love killing zombies.
