COMIC-CON 09: New DISTRICT 9 photo, big gun not sold separately
Comic-Con prep and buzz is in high gear, which means that just about any and all news to hit the film world these past few days has been ‘Con-related. Observe, a new DISTRICT 9 still, this time with an actual human featured. That’s Sharlto Copley, first billed as Wikus van der Merwe, a field operative for the corporation in charge of the aliens that populate the titular District 9. Per IMDb’s synopsis, “van der Merwe contracts a mysterious virus that begins changing his DNA. (He) quickly becomes the most hunted man in the world, as well as the most valuable – he is the key to unlocking the secrets of alien technology. Ostracized and friendless, there is only one place left for him to hide: District 9.”
DISTRICT 9 will screen at Comic-Con, so expect lots more information on the film to be coming at you before you can say “this bus bench for humans only.” The rest of us can catch the film when it releases on August 14.
