    It's Complicated lil

It’s not love and it’s not marriage and it’s not divorce – IT’S COMPLICATED. The latest from Nancy Meyers (she of THE HOLIDAY and SOMETHING’S GOTTA GIVE fame) focuses on a divorced couple, played by Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin, who turn to some old habits. To make things even messier, as Streep and Baldwin fall back into bed (and maybe love?), Streep finds a new suitor in Steve Martin. This new poster keeps up what we’ve seen in the previous poster – Streep and Baldwin in flagrante delicto, while we’re reminded of the star power of the film (via oversized marquees) and a cute, twisted saying about the situation (“Divorced…with benefits”). I will abstain from discussing the horrifying Photoshop job inflicted on our leads (despite telling you, yes, it’s horrifying).

Check out both posters after the jump!

I find it a little odd that both the posters we’ve seen for IT’S COMPLICATED focus on the Streep and Baldwin dynamic. Where’s old Steve Martin? This leads to me to believe that possibly the whole thing isn’t nearly as, ahem, complicated as we may have been led to think, and the film may focus less on the supposed Streep-Baldwin-Martin love triangle, and more on just the Streep-Baldwin relationship.

IT’S COMPLICATED will be in theaters on Christmas Day, the perfect way to spend a holiday with someone you’ve loved, married, hated, divorced, slept with, and loved again. Ho ho ho!

Why the deuce does Meryl look like Glenn Close in the bed shot? As far as Steve Martin not appearing in the posters, I can't say I blame them. The divorced couple falling back in "love" part IS the selling point for this film. Streep and Baldwin's characters are the ones pulling off the preposterous ideal. Martin's character however is supposed to be credible and down to earth. Besides, adding him to either of these designs would make it look more like a threesome than a love triangle.
