Variety is now reporting that Columbia Pictures is currently in talks with actor, and personal hair hero of mine, Nicolas Cage, to play the nondescript gangster villain in the Michel Gondry directed, Seth Rogen written/starring GREEN HORNET. Cameron Diaz is also in talks to play Rogen's love interest, a reporter that could possibly be any combination or version of the characters Gale Manning, "Clicker" Binny, or Lenore "Casey" Case from the original radio program and serials of the 30s and 40s. With the recent departure of actor Stephen Chow (who at one point was also set to direct), the Hornet's sidekick Kato is still not cast. Production is set to begin this fall with the film's release to come summer of 2010.

The classic tales of THE GREEN HORNET chronicled Britt Reid, newspaper publisher by day, masked vigilante crime fighter by night. Reid was joined by his driver/martial arts wielding sidekick Kato and their high-tech, gadget filled car "The Black Beauty."

Apparently, Mr. Cage has a list, a la Steve Buscemi in BILLY MADISON, of comic book films he wishes to star in and subsequently play a part in ruining. That's 1 down, 1 to go if KICK ASS isn't going to...well...you know. That is, unless you count CAPTAIN CORELLI'S MANDOLIN as a comic book adaptation. Then it's 2 down.

As a side note, IMDb lists GHOST RIDER 2 as "in development." Words cannot describe.

As another side note, I have my own personal nickname for Nic. I'm not going to tell you what it is. Okay, it's "Ridiculous Cage."

Despite Cage's totally bonkers career, I will NEVER not watch CON AIR when it's on TV.
