It seemed certain that Nicolas Cage would be playing the main villain in THE GREEN HORNET, co-written by and starring Seth Rogen. While there was a lot of talk of Cage playing a part in THE GREEN HORNET, Cage never signed anything; and today the report is those behind the film have stopped trying to sign Cage, who has moved on to another film.

There is no word yet on who else Rogen and company might like for the villain role, but I expect we will start hearing some buzz about the vacant part soon, as the project has already begun shooting.

The recasting of key roles is nothing new for THE GREEN HORNET. Stephen Chow was originally cast as the Green Hornet’s sidekick and driver Kato, but eventually backed out after signing on the film and was replaced by Jay Chou.

Who would you like to see play THE GREEN HORNET’S villain? You can’t say Dr. Phil (too obvious).
