Penelope Cruz to star in VENUTO AL MUNDO for director Sergio Castellitto

Not many actresses seem to have the connections, or be of the taste, of someone like Penelope Cruz.

Having starred in films from directors such as Pedro Almodovar and Woody Allen (who she’ll star for in his next film), she is now looking to re-team with yet another beloved filmmaker.

The LA Times is reporting that the actress, who will next be seen in the upcoming film, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES, will re-team with her DON’T MOVE director Sergio Castellitto, on his new film, VENUTO AL MONDO.

MUNDO will follow “a single mother who brings her teenage son to Sarajevo, where the boy’s father died during the Balkan War,” and is based on an Italian bestselling novel. The film sounds like quite an intriguing and promising little project, and one that I think Cruz is perfectly suited for. It goes without saying that she’s a remarkably talented actress, and one that should be able to do wonders within a project like this. I love the premise here, so here’s to hoping we hear much more about this project relatively soon.
