PERCY JACKSON sequel gets a director; still looking for the green light
Are you a fan of PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS? How about DIARY OF A WIMPY KID? Well, if you fit both of those bills, than oddly, you just found the perfect news story.
Variety is reporting that WIMPY KID helmer Thor Freudenthal is set to helm the PERCY sequel. The catch? The film is still attempting to get a green light over at Fox, while the studio has yet to use their option on the film’s lead, Logan Lerman.
The film will be penned by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, and has a working subtitle of THE SEA OF MONSTERS.
Freudenthal has become something of a hot commodity in the world of family films, and this would be far and away the director’s biggest project to date. Personally, as long as Chris Columbus (director of the first film) doesn’t touch it, I’m fine. I found the first JACKSON film to be absolutely dreadful, so anything new could be a welcome change. At least here’s to hoping.
