Peter Segal to direct NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH?
As we told you back in August, things aren't going so well for NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH. The supernatural comedy has already lost one director in David Dobkin, as well as a star with Will Ferrell also departing the project. But now, Twentieth Century Fox is in talks with Peter Segal to direct.
I can't say that I've seen any of Segal's work in the aughts (which includes GET SMART, 50 FIRST DATES, THE LONGEST YARD, and NUTTY PROFESSOR II: THE KLUMPS). What can I say? I'm just not a huge Adam Sandler or Eddie Murphy in fat suits fan (I do prefer both of their standup work though!). I am a fan of at least one of Segal's films from the '90s, TOMMY BOY, though it's been ages since I've seen it and I wonder if it still holds up.
NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH is about a man who moves to a small community and joins the local neighborhood watch committee where he discovers elements of the supernatural.
According to Variety, Segal had previously been working on a sequel to his most recent film, GET SMART, but the project has been delayed by Warner Bros.
