News came out very recently that Chris Pine is in talks to star in THE ART OF MAKING MONEY, a based on a true story drama about a man who becomes a great counterfeiter. Well, there is already more Pine related news to report, but it has nothing to do with THE ART OF MAKING MONEY.

According to Variety, Chris Pine has started negotiations with Paramount Pictures to be the next Jack Ryan – the popular Tom Clancy character that has been previously incarnated on the big screen by Alec Baldwin in THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER, Harrison Ford in PATRIOT GAMES and CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER, and most recently by Ben Affleck in THE SUM OF ALL FEARS.

I must say Pine does seem like a nice fit for Jack Ryan. He’s charismatic, confident, and not Ben Affleck – three critical elements we have learned for making a good Jack Ryan.

How do you feel about Pine possibly being the next Jack Ryan?

    • I think his career will go far he jsut got to keep at it and never give up...

I love Chris Pine!! I first saw him in 'The Princess Diaries: Royal Engagement' & totally gushed over him the entire time I was watching it..what's a girl to do when she sees those brilliant blue eyes huh? lol. I think I speak for every Trekkie & even non-Trekkie when I say he did a fantastic job as Capt. James Tiberius Kirk this past summer. The movie had me saying (& still has me saying) 'Kirk Out!' :o) Anyways, I think it would be an awesome opportunity for Pine to portray Jack Ryan. Although Pine's been in other films, I believe Star Trek was a breakout role for him because his other roles didn't necessarily allow him to explore REAL-ness or have any substantial growth of his characters. Pine definitely has a suave nature allowing his audiences to believe him to be a natural born leader. This role will have him explore a different kind of leadership than that of Star Trek...he'd be a businessman and would need certain qualities to pull off the family man shindig pretty well, which I think he could take on quite gracefully.
