PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES gets a mermaid
This is one hell of a way to debut in Hollywood.
Young up-and-comer Astrid Berges-Frisbey has been cast in the upcoming fourth film in the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN series, ON STRANGER TIDES, and will join the already stunning cast, which includes Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Geoffrey Rush, Ian McShane, and Stephen Graham.
The actress will play Syrena the Mermaid, and based on the press release sent out by the studio, it looks as though the role will be much bigger than just a random bit part. She does have a few films under her belt, including LA FILLE DU PUISATIER, BRUC, EXTASE, and UN BARRAGE CONTRE LE PACIFIQUE, so while this isn’t her first feature film, it is no doubt the biggest one he will have on her resume.
I haven’t seen any of her work, so I can’t comment on the quality of her acting, but with Rob Marshall at the helm, this is no doubt a project that I’m rather interested in. Berges-Frisbey is certainly stunningly gorgeous, but she definitely has a lot of pressure coming into this, as not only is the film one of the biggest blockbusters coming down the pipeline, she’s also going to be amongst some of the better thespians working today.
