Possible titles: DIE HARD 24/7 and FANTASTIC FOUR REBORN. No, we’re not kidding.
It's times like this that make me wish movies didn't need titles. All of my friends know what I'm talking about when I say "Let's go see the new Bruce Willis flick" or "Do you wanna go laugh at that slap in the face to movie fans and comic book readers?" but no. In place of that, we get DIE HARD 24/7 and FANTASTIC FOUR REBORN. No facepalm can express how disappointed I am right now.
Here's what we know about each project thus far.
The FANTASTIC FOUR reboot was confirmed around the time of the Disney Marvel merger (and, of course, when I say merger I mean the day Disney swallowed Marvel up like the big, dumb smoke tunnel thing in the last Fantastic Four debacle). Akiva Goldsman and Michael Green are attached, as of now, Goldsman to produce and Green to write the screen play.
Both have dabbled in either's field of work but after writing/producing on Smallville, Everwood, and Heroes, Green thought it best to stick to writing for a while. Goldsman wrote the middle BATMAN films, including FOREVER and & ROBIN, but then, much like Green, decided it was probably best to stick to the other. Among his producing repertoire are HANCOCK, I AM LEGEND, THE LOSERS and the soon to be released JONAH HEX.
As for DIE HARD 24/7 (facepalm) the only information we have as of now is the writer. Skip Woods wrote SWORDFISH and HITMAN and also contributed on X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE and A-TEAM. 2/3 of those are good, and I have yet to see A-TEAM, so there could be light at the end of this badly named tunnel. One thing is clear: Woods has his feet firmly planted in the action genre, which can only mean good things for us.
At one of the COP OUT junkets, when asked about the possibility for another DIE HARD, Willis came right out said "I think we’re going to do a DIE HARD 5 next year." He also expressed his want to widen the scope of the next film in saying, “Well it’s got to go worldwide." The scope has grown from one building in the original film, to the entire country in the latest. Stuck in France? Stuck overseas? I'm not so sure, Bruce. But, I'll leave it in your hands. The next one should be on the moon. Jus' sayin.
