Poster for UNTIL THE LIGHT TAKES US
Oh, goody, nightmares for a week! I kid.
Rock docs are easily my favorite kind of documentary. The best of the genre succeed because they give fans and newbies alike a peek into a world we usually only consume with our ears, complete with stories and tall tales and face-melting concert footage to make anyone get excited about what they’re seeing. And, of course, on the most basic level, I’ve got to quote Russell Hammond here, “I dig music.”
UNTIL THE LIGHT TAKES US is a full length roc dock that covers a genre of music that most people are not only unfamiliar with, but probably a bit scared of – Norwegian black metal. First time filmmakers Aaron Aites and Audrey Ewell actually moved to Norway for two years to make their film in the most honest and immersive way they could. The film is packed with interviews with musicians and rare footage of performances. Today, we’ve got the poster for the film, and it definitely captures the aesthetic feel that most people probably associate with black metal, along with a list of quotes and accolades for the film. Unexpected and dichotomous, to say the least.
Hit that jump to see the full poster (if you dare!).

The film is slated for a limited release on November 20.
