PRIEST adds three more cast members
I’ve spoken to my inner self, and we both agree PRIEST has a pretty fascinating cast: Paul Bettany (A BEAUTIFUL MIND), Maggie Q (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III), Stephen Moyer (“True Blood”), Karl Urban (STAR TREK), and Cam Gigandet (TWILIGHT). Now we have three new members added to the roster – making this much anticipated comic book adaptation even cooler: Brad Dourif (voice of Chucky in the CHILD’S PLAY series, baddie in LORD OF THE RINGS), Christopher Plummer (title role in Heath Ledger’s last film, THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS), and Mädchen Amick, whom you probably remember from Stephen King’s SLEEPWALKERS. Dourif and Plummer were announced via director Scott Stewart’s Twitter, and Amick via Variety.
So far we know Bettany will play the titular role in PRIEST, as a warrior priest on a mission to find his kidnapped niece. Her kidnappers? Vampires. On his side is a warrior priestess (Maggie Q), a half-vampire sheriff (Gigandet), and Shannon (Amick), mom to kidnapped niece and wife to Aaron (Moyer). No further details about Moyer’s character have been released except for his name, but my gut tells me he’s on God’s side.
We also know who our main baddie is (announced on August 21st): Black Hat (Urban) – once a warrior priest, now leader of the vampires.
Dourif and Plummer’s roles have not been announced yet, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Dourif took the evil route, as he’s known to take on some dark roles (Grima Wormtongue in LOTR, CHUCKY).
PRIEST is set to open August 13, 2010.
