After a long and well-publicized battle with cancer, Farrah Fawcett has passed away at age 62 in Los Angeles.

Fawcett’s best known role was as Jill Munroe, one of the original “Charlie’s Angels” in the classic 1970s television show. She later went on to receive critical acclaim and an Emmy nomination for her work in the 1984 television movie THE BURNING BED. However, Fawcett will probably best be remembered for her 1976 Bruce McBroom poster, featuring her in a sexy red swimsuit with her trademark blonde locks flowing behind her.

Recently, Fawcett was back in the news due to her rekindled love affair with Ryan O’Neal (the father of her son, Redmond), and her very public fight against the cancer she was diagnosed with in 2006. A deeply personal documentary that chronicled the battle, FARRAH’S STORY, aired on NBC in May. The film documented not only Fawcett’s health woes, but her various trips to Europe in search of an alternative cure for her illness, and her often-tumultuous relationship with both Ryan and Redmond.

Fawcett, though often just viewed as a classic sex symbol, was also a very strong woman who did not want to leave this world without a fight. FARRAH’S STORY is a testament to how she departed the world – a woman dedicated to living, a woman dedicated to her family.
