Ratner working on (but not directing) KITES
You do not often hear about an established director editing a film that is not theirs, but that appears to be happening with Brett Ratner. The RUSH HOUR and RED DRAGON director has agreed to re-edit an already existing film to prepare it for an international release. The film is from India, and it is KITES. Read more on this after the jump.
Here is the synopsis of KITES according to IMDb:
In the harsh terrain of the Mexican desert, a mortally wounded man is left for dead in the heat of the desert sun. This is J. Once a street smart, carefree young guy. Now, a wanted man. As death looms, the only thing that keeps him alive is the quest to find the love of his life, Natasha. A woman betrothed to another man, but surely destined for J. A woman who comes into his life like a bolt of lightning and changes it forever.
There are two different language versions of KITES, English and Hindu. Ratner will be re-editing the English version of the film. The Hindu version is ready to go and will be released the same time as the English version. Both versions will be released internationally, but only the Hindu version will be released in India.
The English version has already been edited, but the producers are looking for Ratner to make KITES more suitable for a broad audience with his edit of the film.
