  • Rob Corddry spreads on BUTTER

Whether you liked the film or not, one thing you must admit was Rob Corddry stole the show in HOT TUB TIME MACHINE. So, it is no surprise that the funny man should land his next role soon after the film's release. It's called BUTTER and, to be honest, it has a more off-kilter plot than "four guys use a jacuzzi to travel back in time."

BUTTER stars Corddry as a butter sculpting champ who retires only to see his wife (played by Jennifer Garner), take up his trade. The wife must then face off against a butter sculpting prodigy in the form of a young adopted girl. The cast also includes Kate Hudson, Ty Burrell (Modern Family) and Yara Shahidi as the young girl.

If you take a look at your calendar, you'll notice the date no longer says April 1st...so you know that this is most definitely not us fooling you. Oddly enough, the film is not intended to be a low-ball comedy but rather a political satire. BUTTER's writer Jason Micallef has said that he was "looking for some venue that people take very seriously but is also ridiculous, like politics, but at the same time is really visual" for the film's plot. As a side note, the script for BUTTER sat at the number three spot on the 2008 Black List, ranking the year's best unmade films.

Recent reports indicate that director Craig Gillespie (LARS AND THE REAL GIRL) was interested in the project. Seeing as how Gillespie turned a film about a man who falls in love with a sex doll into something sweet and heartfelt,  I'd say he would probably be the man to melt our hearts with BUTTER.
