    ROBIN HOOD

While I dug the first trailer for ROBIN HOOD that we were given recently, it was more for the Russell Crowe/Ridley Scott factor. Yet, I felt the trailer relied a little too much on this while not enough on the actual story. That was until I saw the international trailer!

Gone is the oddly placed guitar-heavy score (sorry, no Bryan Adams either) and in its place is what looks to be exactly the type of epic we have come to expect out of this pair. Crowe and Scott of course teamed up together on 2000’s GLADIATOR, creating one of the most well-done historical dramas of the decade.

Now they are back for the retelling of this classic tale about the warrior who robbed from the rich and gave to the poor. Along for the adventure is Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian, who looks to have traded in her role as the damsel in distress for a sword, a shield, and a license in kicking ass.

The film hits theaters May 14th of next year but you can check out its international trailer after the jump!

I hate Russell Crowe, but I love Robin Hood. I haven't been this torn in my conflict of interest since the Hello Kitty MMORPG. I'll watch it, but I won't feel--wait is that Cate Blanchett? Never mind. I'm cool. Counting the days!
    • I don't really have a problem with Russell Crowe. I actually quite like him. I'm just not sure how much of a strecth we're going to get here with Crowe's take on the character. He looks as if he is just back playing Maximus...which I honestly don't really have a problem with as I thought he was fantastic in that role. I'm just excited to see him and Scott back together doing much of the same.

I'll also note that it is somewhat difficult to gauge Crowe's performance from the trailer, so I'm going to reserve final judgement.

Either way...I'm definitley looking forward to this one!

I can see how, from a filmgoer's perspective, this movie will be awesome. But I'm getting so tired of waiting for a truly badass Robin Hood movie. That said, I think that Ridley Scott is one of the most awesome awesomes who ever awesomed, so I'm kind of hopeful that he'll make my wish come true.
    • You got a problem with Kevin Costner and Christian Slater? ;-)

Dude, I have to be honest. When that movie first came out, I was like, "This is the shit!" I was also eight years old. And had a massive crush on Christian Slater.

With every subsequent viewing, it got crappier and crappier. I tried to watch it about a month ago, nostalgia and Netflix coercing me to do so, and it was seriously unwatchable. I had to turn it off before it was over... but not before seeing the campfire party set to Wild Times by Jeff Lynne. That bass gets me every time.
