Russell Brand has crazy hair, isn’t afraid to say anything that’s on his mind, exemplifies the persona of a gigantic man-whore, and apparently hides colorful, little, candy-filled eggs for children to find. That’s right, Russell Brand has been cast to voice the CG Easter Bunny in Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s CG/live-action mixed Easter film I HOP.

I told you readers a little while ago all about I HOP, one of two upcoming Easter-themed films, HERE. This film seems to be shaping up in plenty of time to meet its proposed release date of March 4, 2011. Tim Hill (ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS) is set to direct, good or bad (at least he has CG/live action experience), and now Brand is on board. Though I think Brand’s cocky British mouth can occasionally shoot himself in the foot (like his unfair MTV Music Awards hosting hammer on the Jonas Brothers’ purity rings), I do find him to be a talented actor with a very unique and interesting voice. This could become a really fun project.

“(I HOP) revolves around an out-of-work slacker who runs over the Easter Bunny while driving home late. Since the bunny can’t hop with a broken leg, the slacker is pressed into duty to save Easter. The film becomes a two-hander between the iconic holiday critter and the slacker, each of whom is running from adulthood.”

What do you guys think? Does this casting get you hoppin’?
