Ryan Reynolds is ready to dress in drag
OK, I’ve been a little hard on Ryan Reynolds in the past, and I’m not 100% sure why (of course, it doesn’t help that I’m not a big fan of alliteration). The guy obviously has some talent. The best recent example I can think of is his hosting of SNL a few weeks back. I actually laughed out loud a number of times.
So just when I’m starting to like the guy, I’m reminded why I wasn’t a big fan to begin with. Reynolds is set to star in a yet-to-be-named comedy being written by Allan Loeb, who also wrote the intense card-counting flick, 21, a few years back and is working on the WALL STREET sequel now. His new movie is being “described as a dude-in-drag romantic comedy, with Reynolds playing a jilted lover who must disguise himself as a woman and befriend his ex in order to win her back.” And suddenly Ryan and I aren’t best friends any more!
I’m not saying I’m not a fan of a dude dressing up like a girl for the sake of comedy, but lets face it, “dude-in-drag” comedies have not exactly been at the top of many people’s to-watch list lately. BIG MOMMA’S HOUSE and WHITE CHICKS come to mind. Sure, it’s possible that this will be the SOME LIKE IT HOT of our generation, and if it is, I’ll be the first to publicly apologize to Ryan Reynolds for being so hard on him.
