Sandra Bullock fans say yes to THE PROPOSAL
Sandra Bullock has set a new personal record with her latest film, THE PROPOSAL. The romantic comedy that stars Bullock and Ryan Reynolds as a boss and assistant that fall in love while pretending to be engaged made $12.4 million on Friday alone, which is the highest opening day number for any Sandra Bullock movie ever. Take that MISS CONGENIALITY, and eat it, MISS CONGENIALITY 2: ARMED AND FABULOUS. SPEED, you are wonderful and deserve to be number one, but unfortunately America failed you, and didn’t give you your proper due upon your initial release.
This news makes THE PROPOSAL a very strong favorite to finish number one at the box office this weekend. If THE PROPOSAL does get the top spot, it will keep THE HANGOVER from being number one for the third week in a row. THE HANGOVER made $8.5 million on Friday, to put it in a tie for second with another new release, YEAR ONE.
$12.4 million is definitely a very strong first day for THE PROPOSAL, and is probably made up of a lot guys paying their girlfriends back for seeing one of the action summer films with them already released this summer. It’s okay, guys, see Sandra this weekend for your lovely lady, because next weekend your ass belongs to Bumblebee and the rest of the Transformers.
