Sony Pictures acquires the remake rights to Canadian smash FATHERS AND GUNS

The summer smash from our neighbor to the north is getting the Hollywood treatment.
Sony Pictures has bought the rights to DE PERE EN FLIC, the highest grossing French-language film ever released in Quebec and Canada. The story follows two cops, a father and son, with a dysfunctional relationship. In order to save the life of an undercover cop that’s been kidnapped, and as part of their investigation, they are assigned to infiltrate an adventure therapy camp for fathers and sons. This assignment forces them to come to terms with their own relationship.
Tentatively titled FATHERS AND SONS, the remake will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. The two will work closely with the original films writer/director Emile Gaudreault and producer Denise Robert, but it is not known who will write or direct the American version.
The original film was released in July of this year, outperforming the likes of BRÜNO, ICE AGE: DAWN OF THE DINOSAURS, TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, and PUBLIC ENEMIES in Quebec.
