Spoilers ahead: Opening scene for TRANSFORMERS 3 revealed?
Maybe in an alternate (better) universe, Steven Spielberg would be directing TRANSFORMERS 3 instead of just giving Michael Bay a few good ideas over the years to insert into his winning formula of fast cars, fast women, big explosions, and frat humor. Alas, that is not the case, but at least Spielberg saved one or two gems for the upcoming trilogy capper.
According to CHUD, the opening of TRANSFORMERS 3 is going back in time to the 1960's. Like many blockbusters before it, TRANSFORMERS 3 is said to begin just after NORAD detects a disturbance on the moon. The powers that be rush to the White House to tell the President of the potential crisis which leads up to the big reveal. The President in question is none other than John F. Kennedy! Mind...blown?
So, in movie logic, the race to the moon was actually motivated by giant robots messing around on that small revolving stone in the sky. Sounds like a Spielberg idea, doesn't it? I have a theory that Spielberg only produces just so he can give away the ideas that he's not that crazy about. It's therapeutic for him and leaves room for that big, creative brain to focus on more important things like...JAWS 5?
