Stephen Moyer, Brittany Murphy, and Luis Guzman have been added to the cast of THE CALLER. The film, which starts shooting on Friday in Puerto Rico, is directed by Matthew Parkhill.

The story focuses on a woman named Mary who starts to receive phone calls on her antique phone from a caller named Rose. Rose is calling Mary from the past and threatens to harm her in the past if she refuses to accept her phone calls. Mary must try to put an end to the calls and realizes that she must kill Rose. But how can she kill someone that lives in the past?

The plot of this film sounds particularly terrifying for someone who already has a hard enough time dodging telemarketers and now has to worry about unwanted calls from ghosts, too.

There is no word on what roles the actors have been cast in yet, but we will keep you posted as more information becomes available. MTV reports that it is unlikely that Murphy would play the role of Mary. It wouldn’t be a stretch for Murphy to play Rose, as she has made a career in playing the mentally unstable and/or crazy girl. MTV also speculates that Moyer, who is one of the stars of “True Blood,” will likely play the role of Mary’s ex-husband, who is supposed to have a major role in the story. I’m most curious about Luis Guzman’s role, however.

Murphy will appear in three upcoming horror films: SOMETHING WICKED, ABANDONED, and THE EXPENDABLES. Just kidding about that last one, as obviously the last horror film she is attached to is THE CALLER.
