    The Ghost

Summit Entertainment has acquired the North American distribution rights to Roman Polanski’s THE GHOST WRITER. The film will see a release in the first half of next year. The film, originally titled THE GHOST, was in the final phases of production when Polanski was arrested back in September in Zurich, Switzerland. Polanski had been working on completing the film from prison.

The cast of THE GHOST WRITER includes Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan, Olivia Williams, Kim Cattrall, Jim Belushi, Robert Pugh, and Tom Wilkinson.

Based on the novel “The Ghost” by Robert Harris, the film centers on a former British Prime Minister (Brosnan) who is in seclusion on an island off the eastern coast of the U.S. while he writes his memoirs. When his assistant drowns, a professional ghostwriter (McGregor) is sent to help him finish the book. In his research, the ghostwriter uncovers some alarming information about the Prime Minister.

Currently, Polanski is under house arrest in Switzerland since his release on bail last week by Swiss authorities.
