Sundance 2011: John Hawkes serenades in MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE, listen to the full song

T. Sean Durkin’s MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE garnered a lot of buzz this year at Sundance. Our very own Kate Erbland called it "the most cohesively constructed film at Sundance this year," and Durkin won the much deserved Directing Award: Dramatic. MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE (labeled MMMM by all the exhausted Sundancers) follows a paranoid and damaged woman (a spectacular Elizabeth Olsen) who tries to live a normal life with her sister after fleeing from an abusive cult.

In the audio clip I've posted after the jump, you can hear the acoustic song obsessive cult leader Patrick (the always terrific John Hawkes) sings to Martha; it's quite haunting, to say the least.

MMMM was picked up by studio favorite Fox Searchlight and is slated to release sometime this year.
