Sundance Watch: Festival adds three new films to its line-up
As if it could not feel any more like the gift-giving season, the Sundance Film Festival officially announced the addition of three new films to its line-up for this year’s festival. And if that is not enough to get you excited, it will be the world premiere for all three films!
Sundance 2010 begins January 21st and runs through January 31st. The festival will take place between Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah. This will be Gordon and the Whale’s first year to cover the festival, so you can expect plenty of icy cool interviews, reviews, and news on what are sure to be some of the biggest, most notable films of this next year.

IT’S A WONDERFUL AFTERLIFE
Director: Gurinder Chadha
Screenwriters: Paul Mayeda Berges and Gurinder Chadha
Cast: Shabana Azmi, Goldy Notay, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Sally Hawkins.
Official Festival Synopsis: A comedy centered on an Indian mother who discovers that finding the perfect son-in-law can be murder.
Sundance History: Director Gurinder Chadha has screened three films at the Sundance Film Festival. 2003′s BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM, WHAT’S COOKING in 2000 and the short film I’M BRITISH BUT in 1992.
THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT
Director: Lisa Cholodenko
Screenwriters: Stuart Blumberg and Lisa Cholodenko
Cast: Julianne Moore, Mia Wasikowska, Josh Hutcherson, Mark Ruffalo, Annette Bening
Official Festival Synopsis: Two children conceived by artificial insemination bring their birth father into their family life.
Sundance History: Director Lisa Cholodenko received the 1998 Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at Sundance for High Art. Her film LAUREL CANYON showed at the festival in 2003.
THE ROMANTICS
Director/Screenwriter: Galt Niederhoffer (based on her novel)
Cast: Katie Holmes, Josh Duhamel, Anna Paquin, Adam Brody, Malin Ackerman, Elijah Wood, Candice Bergen, Jeremy Strong, Dianna Agron
Official Festival Synopsis: THE ROMANTICS, a zeitgeist love story and generational comedy, takes place over the course of one night at a deluxe seaside wedding.
Sundance History: Writer/Director Galt Niederhoffer received the 2007 Sundance Audience Award for producing GRACE IS GONE. She also produced the Sundance Film Festival films LONESOME JIM, DEDICATION, DIMINISHED CAPACITY, BIRDS OF AMERICA and HURRICANE
