Surprising casting rumors for MACHETE
Casting rumors have begun for Robert Rodriguez’s MACHETE (of course, Danny Trejo will be starring in the title role), and the word “interesting” seems very apt in describing what names have come out in the rumor mill.
The first name is Michelle Rodriguez, who I could definitely imagine kicking ass with or against Danny Trejo. The other two names is where the eyebrow-raising comes in, as Jonah Hill and Robert De Niro have also been connected to MACHETE. This news is pretty shocking, but in a good way, as Hill is hilarious and always bring some solid comedy to whatever role he plays, and Robert De Niro is Robert De Niro, an immensely talented and certifiably badass actor. I would definitely be interested to see the end result of a collaboration between Robert De Niro and Robert Rodriguez.
Nothing is official yet, but I’d be perfectly fine if these rumors turn out to be true, since having talents like Robert De Niro and Jonah Hill involved would make any film better – except a SHOWGIRLS musical remake; De Niro and Jonah Hill are great, but even their powers have a limit.
