Quentin Tarantino is one of those directors with such a unique vision that I would literally watch his take on anything. Hell, I would even watch a Quentin Tarantino-directed Muppet movie. He has shown us with his most recent INGLORIOUS BASTERDS what he can do when he steps out of his regular fare of the crime genre. I only wish we could have seen that rumored Quentin Tarantino-directed CASINO ROYALE. Well, add another big franchise to that wish list of unique takes on classic stories we will never see from Mr. Tarantino.

It seems that way back when, before it was even in script form, Tarantino was offered to helm GREEN LANTERN (which coincidentally is now being directed by CASINO ROYALE director Martin Campbell). “I was offered the ‘Green Lantern,’ ” Tarantino recently told MTV. “Not since it’s been a script, but just like, ‘Hey we own the ‘Green Lantern.’ Would you like it?’”

Being a self-professed “big comic book fan,” Tarantino said, “there’s a little part of me that’s like, ‘Wow, if I was in my 20s, this would be the genre I’d want to specialize in,’ but they weren’t making them then, or at least not the right ones. But there also is an aspect where I’ve kind of outgrown that a little bit.”

Unfortunately for us, we should not hold our breath in anticipation of seeing Tarantino’s take on any of our favorite masked heroes and villains, as the director says he is not into the idea of taking on an established series or franchise. But that’s not such bad news, as the director says he is into the idea of a completely new, built-from-the-ground-up crimefighter.

“It wouldn’t be an existing comic book character,” he said. “I’m a writer. I’d want to use my imagination and not have to fight with geeks’ memories of how this character should be and, ‘Oh, I cast an actor as opposed to a bodybuilder’ or it’s not as good as the way [DC Comics artist] Neal Adams drew him.’ If I were to do something like that, I would want the fun of coming up with the superhero myself.”

    3, 2, 1…(breathes in deeply)

P.S. -  Still waiting on that rumored SUPERMAN RETURNS dissertation from you, QT!

      A Tarantino superhero movie.

I can't even wrap my head around this. It's just too awesome.
    • I'm with Erik on this. I think a comic film done by Tarantino would be fucking incredible.
    • Thank god.
It's good to know he knows better.
Our little QT is growing up!
