Just the other day I was saying to myself, “Self, I sure could go for a new woman-against-the-odds movie…” Well to my utter surprise there just so happens to be one coming to theaters soon. THE GUITAR, starring Saffron Burrows and directed by Amy Redford, is a story that follows a woman who is diagnosed with a terminal disease, fired from her job, and ditched by her man. I’d say that qualifies for against-the-odds. So with only two months to live, the heroine takes her life by the reigns, finally pursues her dream of learning the guitar, and you guessed it: finds love. (Everyone together now… “Awwww”)

Just as a side note, this poster does a good job of portraying the classic cliche: Sex and Rock and Roll… don’t you think?
