Editor's Note: UPDATED WITH THE TEASER TRAILER!

I know, most everyone is played out on the live action/CGI hybrid movie at this point because they usually aren't as great as they should be. THE SMURFS, on the other hand, has always been on the better side of my thoughts, due to its wonderful casting choices and my love for the original cartoon.

We've gotten a look at Hank Azaria as Gargamel, but now we're finally getting a peek at our three-apple-tall heroes. Check out the full image after the break!

Although I'm not exactly sure how they could have made The Smurfs look any different, they made them look simply outstanding. However, I am disappointed that it isn't a full look at them, but at the same time it is very important that we see a good shot of New York behind them.

I can't wait to see more from THE SMURFS, and we won't have to wait too long. The teaser trailer will run before TOY STORY 3,  in addition to being released to Yahoo! Movies on Thursday.

What do you guys think of THE SMURFS?

How can you get excited about a film by the director of Beverly Hills Chihuahua, Scooby-Doo 1 & 2, Big Momma's House, Never Been Kissed and Home Alone 3? While no movie could ever ruin the smurfs for us all, Columbia seems to be trying pretty hard.

I'll give you all but NEVER BEEN KISSED. Have you seen that? It's one of the best rom-coms we've had in years. And this is The Smurfs we're talking here, childhood nostalgia – of course we're going to get excited!

Exactly as Chase said. I love The Smurfs cartoon so much, I can't help but be excited for the film. My TV never turned off Cartoon Network when I was a youngster, and The Smurfs were always on. Needless to say I've watched a lot!

Totally agree about NEVER BEEN KISSED. That movie is totally great.

Always wanted to see a Tim Burton SCOOBY-DOO…you're right IndiePixar, but it's not the director it's the material. This is going to be pretty paint by numbers though I think. They do want a Smurfquel afterall.

Also, this teaser is horrible. I'm so sick of the faux-serious tone and build-up like it's a big blockbuster only to have the rug pulled out with a lame joke. Also, why is the font graffiti? I do like the size of the Smurfs but “Funky Cold Medina” with the Smurfs theme overlayed? Obnoxious. Prepare to be disappointed.

This trailer made me sad, mainly for childhood Kate who would have been really crushed by how bad this looks.

The trailer certainly is disheartening, but it also lets us know absolutely nothing about the film. I'm hoping it doesn't take itself too seriously. If it can make fun of itself freely, then it could be a humorous flick.
