THE WOLVERINE shooting in October?
With director James Mangold attached to helm the project, THE WOLVERINE appears to finally be back on track.
During an interview with the Toronto radio station CHFI (via The Playlist), star Hugh Jackman revealed that the plan is for the film to begin shooting this October, with a release “a year after that.” Jackman went on to say that he’ll be shooting LES MISERABLES in 2012, meaning that all systems appear to be go for THE WOLVERINE.
Mangold’s addition appears to have sparked the film back into production, which could be just the thing this character needs. Mangold is a really talented filmmaker, particularly with action (3:10 TO YUMA and KNIGHT & DAY are solid action films), so while it’s upsetting we won’t be seeing Darren Aronofsky’s take on the film, Mangold is just about as good as you can do.
This character deserves something better than X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, and while that’s not guaranteed here, one would have to imagine that this is going to be the Wolverine film we’ve all been anxiously waiting for.
