Theron and Hardy officially in negotiations for FURY ROAD, the MAD MAX sequel
Just last week, word got out that Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy were the big names being batted around as the leads for George Miller’s MAD MAX sequel (now apparently called FURY ROAD). Today, we’ve moved right into official negotiation territory. In Hollywood parlance, “in negotiations” typically means “the ink is drying,” so it’s fair to view this as an official casting announcement. With the role of Max under his belt, Hardy’s career has hit the jackpot.
While the plot of FURY ROAD is still a bit of a secret, it is known that the flick is set to take place pretty quickly after MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME. The film will shoot in Australia, starting next summer.
This news, while great for Hardy, obviously means that Jeremy Renner (THE HURT LOCKER), who was once rumored for the role, is out. But that also means that he’s open for another kick-ass action job – any ideas?
