Theron out of THE TOURIST, Jolie might be in
One A-list, Oscar-winning actress might be replacing another. Charlize Theron has decided to leave the spy thriller THE TOURIST and, according to sources, Angelina Jolie is in talks to replace her in the title role.
THE TOURIST, which is a remake of the French film, for some reason can't seem to keep those attached to the project. First, Tom Cruise was "loosely attached" as the male lead, but eventually left to be replaced by Sam Worthington (TERMINATOR SALVATION, the upcoming CLASH OF THE TITANS remake, and AVATAR). Last week, director Bharat Nalluri (THE CROW: SALVATION, MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY) also left the project. And now THE TOURIST is without a female lead role for the moment.
Though two actors and a director have now left THE TOURIST, if Jolie does end up signing on to the project, at least Theron's withdrawal won't lead to a downgrade in the actress department.
