Tracy Morgan to appear in ID THEFT and FRESHMAN ROOMMATES
I'm sad that I didn't really recognize the genius of Tracy Morgan in his SNL days. Who would have guessed that he would be experiencing such a career high at this point? Of course this has a lot to do with his work on "30 Rock" and little to do with COP OUT. I've yet to see COP OUT but I hear it isn't the Kevin Smith or Tracy Morgan romp any of us were expecting, but I am still hopeful that there is some cinematic gold left in the career of Tracy Morgan.
Today comes news that Morgan has been cast in not one but two upcoming comedic films, ID THEFT and FRESHMAN ROOMMATES.
ID THEFT sees Morgan committing identity fraud to improve his credit. According to Deadline Hollywood, Morgan will play “a cash-strapped father who sees a shortcut out of his struggles when the credit card of a suburban dad lands in his lap.”
FRESHMAN ROOMMATES will co-star TJ Miller, as a guy who answers a Nigerian e-mail scam only to have the spoiled son of an African dictator (Morgan), show up at his door in search of his inheritance. This has so much COMING TO AMERICA potential. I'm excited. The original script was written by John Mulaney and "The League's" Nick Kroll. I'm a huge fan of the pair's work which includes "The OH, Hello Show."
Currently the studio is hoping to get BLADES OF GLORY writers, John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky, to do a rewrite.
