When I heard that the director/producer team of HALF NELSON and SUGAR would be directing a comedy featuring Zach Galifianakis, Emma Roberts, Lauren Graham, and Jim Gaffigan I was interested. When I heard it would be set in a mental hospital, my anticipation heightened. And now, after watching the trailer courtesy of Yahoo! Movies, I can barely contain my laughter and excitement.

Talk about a potent mix of hilarity and heart-warming romance!

Galifianakis looks absolutely hilarious, though that's to be expected. I've been a big fan of his work since his days as a stand-up comedian. I'm glad he takes the time with these smaller productions even after his success with THE HANGOVER. Emma Roberts looks to play another patient in the ward, and plays the gorgeous love interest. Wouldn't it be a nice twist to have Galifianakis play the love interest for Gilchrist's character?

I can dream, can't I?

What really surprised me was how quickly I'm drawn to this lead character, portrayed by Keir Gilchrist. I've never seen any of his work in the past, and yet he looks to have some serious charisma. At first glance he looks to be to Justin Long what Jesse Eisenberg was to Michael Cera. Now, Eisenberg has recently come into his own but you catch my drift.

IT'S KIND OF A FUNNY STORY will enter a limited release on September 24.
