Trailer for SALT starring Angelina Jolie
If you recall, the espionage thriller SALT was at one time to be centered around a male lead and be titled EDWIN A. SALT. That male lead was to be Tom Cruise. When he stepped out of the role, the male lead turned to female and in stepped Angelina Jolie. Goodbye Edwin A., hello Evelyn. This left us with only SALT, about a CIA operative on the run and out to clear her name from accusations of being a Russian spy involved in a plot to assassinate the President of the United States.
The film's trailer has just hit the web and it looks like the typical fare for a leading lady who sometimes dabbles in the action genre. Jolie has previously showed us her tough side in TOMB RAIDER, MR. & MRS. SMITH, and most recently WANTED. The film also stars Liev Schreiber (X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (CHILDREN OF MEN).
SALT was directed by Phillip Noyce, who is no stranger to the spy genre having directed THE SAINT, CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER AND PATRIOT GAMES. Noyce and Jolie previously worked together on 1999's THE BONE COLLECTOR.
