Trailer for Wim Wenders’ PINA will change your life, it’s that good
Now, while a 3D dance documentary may not be the first thing that you would imagine German auteur Wim Wenders helming, when you get a film that looks this breathtaking, you can see why he jumped aboard a project like this.
Thanks to MUBI, we have the first trailer for the upcoming Wenders film, PINA, which is set to debut at the 2011 Berlinale. The film is Wenders’ love letter to the legendary dance choreographer Pina Bausch, and looks like an absolute winner. Check out the utterly amazing trailer after the break.
Looking far more like a Julie Taymor film than anything I’ve ever seen Wenders take the helm of, the film looks absolutely full of life, with some of the more visually stunning dance sequences I’ve ever seen. The film will be premiering in February at Berlinale, but hopefully we’ll get to see this one stateside relatively soon, because with a trailer like this, I don’t think I can wait all that long. There is really something about these vibrant dance sequences that seem to be so enthralling both visually in a directorial sense, but also visually in a dance sense, drawing the viewer in with both direction and the real movement within the frame.
Simply put, this looks like the greatest thing ever made. Can’t wait.
