UK poster for DAYBREAKERS
All the attention right now is, of course, on TWILIGHT: NEW MOON due to its release this weekend. Yet, there is another vampire film on its way where the vampires do not sparkle when they step into the sun. Not unless you count spontaneously combusting into a violent ball of fire as “sparkling.”
That film is called DAYBREAKERS and Empire just got their hands on the UK poster, featuring Ethan Hawke, Sam Neill, and one of those folks with the crossbows, Willem Dafoe. The film, directed by the Spierig brothers (UNDEAD), tells the tale of a world in which literally almost everyone is a vampire and the human race is virtually non-existent and growing even more so by the day, causing there to be a drought on blood to feed the world’s population.
As someone who was privileged enough to see the film a few months back at Fantastic Fest, let me tell you that DAYBREAKERS is a creative and dramatic take on the vampire lore that breathes a breath of fresh air into what is becoming homogenized at this point with TWILIGHT, TRUE BLOOD, and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES.
