Universal Just Can’t get Enough Krofft
Sid and Marty Krofft’s children’s television series SIGMUND AND THE SEA MONSTERS is now the third to be chosen to be resurrected for the big screen. LAND OF THE LOST starring Will Ferrell and Danny McBride comes out next June, and H. R. PUFNSTUFF is being developed by Sony with Conrad Vernon in talks to direct. Thanks to Universal, SIGMUND AND THE SEA MONSTERS is going to be produced by the Krofft duo and Jimmy Miller. The script is being created by Dana Gould who was a writer/producer for THE SIMPSONS. SIGMUND AND THE SEA MONSTERS is a story about a sea monster named Sigmund who is shunned by his kind due to his inability to “be a monster”. After exile, Sigmund is taken in by two friends who keep him hidden in their clubhouse. Though I’m pretty sure this television series was inspired by a couple of mind-altering drugs (it was created in the 70s), and half of its audience was stoned out of their minds, I do think this has the potential to be an interesting children’s film.
