Universal picks up some DESPERADOS
Nope, this is not another sequel to Robert Rodriguez’ ultra bad-ass DESPERADO. This is a comedy starring Isla Fisher (WEDDING CRASHERS, HOT ROD) that’s being described as THE HANGOVER for women!
Universal Pictures has captured DESPERADOS, with Isla Fisher (HOT ROD, WEDDDING CRASHERS) starring, Mark Gordon (2012, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, THE MESSENGER < — great film) producing, and Universal executive Tracy Falco and creative executive Maradith Frenkel overseeing the project. The script was written by Ellen Rapoport, who’s been recently working on a TV series of the hit movie, LEGALLY BLONDE. At the moment, no director has been announced.
Brace yourself, the synopsis for DESPERADOS is a little strange:
“The story is set in motion when a woman sends an indignant e-mail to her new beau, who’s gone silent after they have sex. When she discovers he’s comatose in a Mexican hospital, she races south of the border with her friends in tow to intercept the e-mail before he recovers. The project has been described as a female-oriented “Hangover.”
I’m thinking HANGOVER meets ROAD TRIP!
