Update: TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE getting reshoots, but will be directed by David Slade
Well, that was a quick turnaround.
Just a few hours ago, Lainey Gossip uncovered a story that claimed the upcoming third film in the ever-popular TWILIGHT series, ECLIPSE, was going to be getting “key scenes” and “a few fight sequences” reshot, and without the guidance of the film’s director, David Slade.
The report went so far as to link TWILIGHT and NEW MOON directors Catherine Hardwicke and Chris Weitz to the reshoots. However, thanks to Twilight Lexicon, who were pointed to a post at Gossip Cop by Summit, the news has been completely debunked.
The report at Gossip Cop says that the studio planned these reshoots for a while now, and that “David Slade is 100% directing them, like he did the entire movie, and the studio is ‘very happy’ with his direction of the film.” So there you have it, straight from the horse’s mouth.
Personally, this news does nothing to aid or hinder my already low anticipation for the project. However, with David Slade at the helm, it is still a project that I’m keeping a keen eye on. I loved his prior two films, HARD CANDY and 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, so, as a talented young filmmaker, it will be interesting to see where he takes this franchise.
