Garry Marshall’s romantic comedy VALENTINE’S DAY, which is stuffed with known names, will be hitting theaters this Friday. But apparently the people behind the project did not wait for the film to play for even one day before making a decision on the sequel. According to Deadline Hollywood (via /Film) a draft for a sequel has already been submitted by VALENTINE’S DAY writer Katherine Fugate.

The article mentions the film’s producers, as well as New Line Executives, decided to do a sequel while VALENTINE’S DAY was in production. The sequel will stick to the same game plan, holiday-based ensemble romantic comedy, but it will be a new holiday. So what is the new holiday? New Year’s Eve. Sorry Flag Day, I guess you still aren’t quite sexy enough.

Some of the same characters in VALENTINE’S DAY will be featured in NEW YEAR’S EVE. I wonder if this will still happen if VALENTINE’S DAY goes and tanks this weekend, even though I’m sure it won’t. It has a lot of big names and is opening at the perfect time. So get ready for NEW YEAR’S EVE.
