Video Interview: writer/director/actor Pat Kiely and producer Kieran Crilly (WHO IS KK DOWNEY?)
Writer/director/actor/do-it-all Pat Kiely and producer Kieran Crilly are some of the hardest-working indie filmmakers in the business, but you may not have heard of them just yet. They hail from Canada and have a pretty popular Montreal comedy troupe called “Kidnapper Films.”
About a week and a half ago I met up with these two studs to talk about their new film, WHO IS KK DOWNEY?, which releases on DVD tomorrow through IndiePix. KK DOWNEY focuses on two down-on-their-luck hipsters who pretty much have nothing to lose, so they pose as a fake writer with a dirty past to cash in on fame and fortune. Weird shit ensues.
Oh, yes, I almost forgot to mention that the interview took place in a bling bling hotel’s (Austin’s Driskell) weight room. We were trying to find a quiet place to film the interview – finding one of those at a film festival is like searching for your lost grandma at Walmart – and well, you know the rest.
