Watch Mel Gibson’s return to acting in the EDGE OF DARKNESS trailer
If we have learned anything from films of the past, it is that you do not mess with Mel Gibson. MAD MAX, BRAVEHEART, PAYBACK, LETHAL WEAPON, THE PATRIOT, CHICKEN RUN. All films where Gibson exacted some sweet revenge on those who deserved it. Well, after a six year hiatus from acting, Gibson is back doing what he does best. Serving a cold dish of revenge garnished by a heaping side of ass-kicking, with a tall glass of “Yoo-hoo You’re Dead” to wash it down.
This time around, it’s as a Boston detective who, after his daughter is killed by a bullet thought to be meant for him, goes on a hunt for her masked killer. What he uncovers are the well-hid secrets of her life, connected to a larger conspiracy involving a corporate cover-up and sordid government dealings. The film was directed by Martin Campbell (CASINO ROYALE) and co-written by William Monahan, who penned another Boston cop drama for which he won an Oscar. That, of course, being THE DEPARTED.
EDGE OF DARKNESS hits theaters January of next year but, in the meantime, you can check out its awesome trailer, along with its newly released poster, after the jump!
