Werner Herzog and David Lynch get creepy together.
File that headline under “total shockers”, right? While the very concept of Werner Herzog and David Lynch being in the same room together is pretty creepy on its own, this post is about the upcoming project My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done which is directed by Herzog and executive produced by Lynch. The story will be loosely based on a real life situation in which a man believed that he was in a Sophocles play and ended up murdering his mother with a sword. The film will apparently reference the murder through a series of flashbacks, so the bulk of the story should follow this story in the wake of the disaster. Lynch and Herzog have pulled together a great cast for their psychological horror flick with Oscar nominated Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road), Udo Kier, Grace Zabriskie, Willem Defoe and Chloe Sevigny set to star, with supporting roles from Michael Pena, Brad Dourif, and Bill Cobbs. Herzog commented on the project by saying:
“I always wanted to make a horror film, but not with bloody axes and chain-saws. An anonymous fear should rather creep up at you.”
Well Werner, if you’re looking for help making fear creep up on you, there’s probably no one better to work with than Mr. David Lynch. The man is a master of creepy.
